Slip Leashes

A slip leash combines a leash and collar into one simple, convenient design. The adjustable loop slips easily over your dog’s head, making it quick to put on and remove without the need for a separate collar. Handcrafted in the USA from premium materials, Auburn Leathercrafters Slip Leashes are trusted by pet owners and professionals alike for convenience and training, and durability.

Slip-style dog leads are especially popular with groomers, kennel staff, trainers, and hunters because one leash can be used with almost any dog. The all-in-one design makes it easy to move dogs between kennels, grooming tables, vehicles, or the field without stopping to attach or remove a collar. Because there are no clips or buckles to fasten, handlers can slip the leash on and off in seconds. For dog owners, a slip leash also makes an excellent grab-and-go option for short outings and travel.

Slip leads are popular for dog leash training, as they discourage pulling and make it difficult for dogs to back out of the leash. This is thanks to the tension-activated design: When pressure is applied, the loop gradually snugs around the dog’s neck, and as pressure is released it loosens. Every Auburn Leathercrafters slip leash includes an adjustable stopper that allows you to set a maximum expansion, which prevents it from sliding off. As with any training tool that tightens under tension, a slip leash should be used with care and should not be left on an unattended dog. See our blog post “How to Use a Slip Leash Correctly” for more information.
